Charcoal   is the lightweight black  carbon  and ash residue  hydrocarbon  produced by removing water and other volatile constituents from  animal  and  vegetation  substances. Charcoal is usually produced by slow  pyrolysis  — the heating of  wood  or other substances in the absence of  oxygen . This process is called  charcoal burning . The finished charcoal consists largely of carbon. T he advantage of using charcoal instead of just burning wood is the removal of the water and other components. Shea butter    is a  fat  extracted from the  nut  of the African  shea tree  ( Vitellaria paradoxa ). It is usually ivory in color when raw, with more processed versions being white in color. It can be yellow when a root [ is added to it  It is widely used in  cosmetics  as a  moisturizer ,  salve  or  lotion .
